The Horse knows You.

Do You?

Welcome to The Horse Within—a place to come home to yourself through presence, practice, and meaningful connection with horses, nature, and one another.

At The Horse Within, everything begins and unfolds in relationship - an I–Thou way of being that invites us to meet each other as whole beings, horses and humans alike.

Guided by the principles of Equine Psychotherapy Institute (EPI) and informed by trauma-sensitive, emotion-focused practice, we create spaces where healing and learning unfold not through control or analysis, but through presence, co-regulation, and mutual regard.

The horses are not tools or metaphors. They are sovereign beings and co-facilitators who offer moment-to-moment feedback, inviting us into deeper attunement with ourselves, one another, and the living systems we belong to.

We work in the paddock, in rhythm with the land, the weather, and the herd. This ecological context isn’t incidental—it is essential. Our nervous systems, shaped by evolutionary belonging to nature, remember how to settle, orient, and reweave themselves in this environment.

Through this work, communication, boundaries, and emotional clarity aren’t taught as skills—they emerge as natural expressions of safety, presence, and interconnection. We call this Relational Intelligence.

The Horse Within is a wild yet quiet knowing that you belong, just as you are, to yourself and the earth."

What happens when we are truly seen?

In the presence of horses, we’re invited into a relational space that’s grounded in safety, attunement, and embodied presence. Our work draws on trauma-informed principles, Somatic Experiencing, Emotion-Focused and Internal Family Systems therapy, supported by mindfulness and deep listening. Horses help us regulate our nervous systems and meet ourselves and others in an I–Thou way—beyond roles, stories, or defences. In this space, relational intelligence grows, and new possibilities for healing and connection emerge.

Curious to hear what the forest has to do with all this?

In this conversation with Rowena Morrow on the Reflections from the Forest Floor podcast, together we wander through a magical forest exploring what it means to truly know and be known by place.

Together, we reflect on belonging, reciprocity, and the deep wisdom that emerges when we remember our relational nature—with land, with horses, and with each other. We touch on the ways trauma, memory, and ecology intertwine, and how awe, presence, and I–Thou relating open pathways to connection and healing.

Slowing down to speed up: A Nature Immersion for Teams & Leaders

Over 15 years of experience in corporate learning, development, and change facilitation, our workshops and programs offer a fresh, nature-based approach to leadership development and team building. It’s about evolving together—stepping outside the boardroom and immersing in real, hands-on experiences with horses as well as quiet herd observations , where authentic insights and deeper connections emerge.

Indigenous communities have been custodians of our lands for millennia, and through their wisdom and practices have been caring and advocating for the well-being of our place, people, and the planet.

I recognise that there is an unbreakable link between these elements and the ability of each living being to thrive depends greatly on how we show up, right here, right now.

I acknowledge that we live and work on the land of the Bunurong people and I pay my respects to their elders past, present, and emerging.
