The Connection Project

The teenage years bring a lot of change, different types of challenges, and a lot of confusion. Friendships shift, emotions feels out of control, and finding your place can feel really hard.

The Connection Project offers a safe and supportive space where young people can explore who they are, practise connecting with others, and build the confidence to bring more of themselves into the world.

Why Horses?

Horses respond honestly in the moment to how we show up — our energy, emotions, and intentions. This gives teens a powerful way to see and feel their impact, and to practise presence, empathy, and confidence in real time.

Over six months, small groups meet once a month for 1.5 hrs. With the support of horses and each other, teens get to:

  • Connect with and through our horses, learning from their presence and feedback

  • Practise courage and communication in a safe group setting

  • Explore identity and expression in ways that may feel too risky in the classroom

  • Experience what it’s like to disagree, repair, and stay connected

  • Build friendships through shared experiences

  • Learn practical tools for emotional regulation and self-awareness

Each session blends hands-on time with horses, group dialogue, and creative expression. Horses bring an honesty and grounding that helps teens feel, reflect, and practise connection in a way that’s real and impactful.
